Before and After School Supervision:
Student Safety is of paramount concern to us. We provide supervision on our school grounds from 8:35am - 8:55am before school and 3:00pm - 3:20pm
after school. Please make sure students are picked up as soon as possible after 3:00pm. If students are not picked up by 3:20pm, they
are asked to come to the office so that we can phone home.
Safe Arrival:
Parent volunteers run a Safe Arrival Program designed to ensure all students who have been sent to school have arrived safely.
If your child is going to be away or late, please call the Safe Arrival volunteer at the school (604) 713-5284 between 8:30am and
9:00am. It is essential that any child arriving at school after 9:00am check in with the Safe Arrival volunteer in the
nurse's office. You will be contacted if your child is not at school and we have not received a notice of absence.
Recess/Lunch Breaks:
We take your child's safely seriously and are very conscientious about supervising these breaks. It is very important
that we know where all students are during the school day. Students must remain on the school grounds during recess. All
students are expected to stay on the school grounds over the lunch hour unless they go home for lunch on a regular basis.
Students who may go home for lunch occasionally need to bring a note on the days that they will be leaving the school
grounds.
Only grade six and seven students with a note from a parent will be allowed to go to Cambie to purchase lunch. The note
should specify where on Cambie the child is going i.e. Flying Wedge. Please discuss with your children that they need to
go directly to that location and come back to the school.
If you decide to give written permission, please be aware that once the students are off the school grounds, we are no
longer able to supervise them. If parents wish to take their children out for lunch, please come to the office to
sign them out. All students leaving the school grounds for any reasons (except those who go home for lunch on a regular
basis) are expected to sign out at the office.
Rainy Day Activities:
We open up our school gymnasium on rainy days at recess and lunch to provide students the opportunity to take part in
indoor games and activities and to remain warm and dry. |
